Margaret G. Tyson Dean’s Fund for Excellence Award

This semiannual award recognizes excellence among staff of the University of Maryland School of Nursing.

All regular staff with the exception of the dean, associate dean(s), assistant dean(s), and faculty members can be nominated for this award. Nominations can be made by anyone; however, you cannot nominate your immediate supervisor.

Eligibility

Staff members are nominated for this award for their exemplary achievements or efforts meeting one or more of the following criteria:

  • excels in performance: going above and beyond job expectations
  • is responsible for a distinguished deed
  • excels as a team player
  • makes a difference to a member of the School of Nursing community
  • serves as a role model for advancing the goals and mission of the School of Nursing.

Selection Criteria

The nomination forms for Outstanding Staff Team Award must reflect one or more of the UMB Core Values.

  • Equity and Justice
  • Innovation and Discovery

Award

Winners will receive $500 for professional development, a certificate, a photograph with the dean, and an announcement in The Elm newsletter. Additionally, the School will submit all nominees for the UMB Employee of the Month Award.

Winners can’t be selected more than once within a two-year period.
