The School of Nursing: The Basics

The University of Maryland School of Nursing's (UMSON) Clinical Nurse Leader and Nursing Informatics master's programs are ranked No. 1 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, which also ranks our Doctor of Nursing Practice and overall master's programs in the top 10. We also rank 13th nationally in receipt of funding for nursing schools from the National Institutes of Health.

UMSON shares a 61-acre campus in downtown Baltimore with the University of Maryland, Baltimore’s five other professional schools—Dentistry, Law, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Social Work—and the Graduate School. Our campus is conveniently located near the University of Maryland Medical Center, University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute, University of Maryland BioPark, and the Baltimore VA Medical Center.

For students in the Montgomery County/Prince George’s County area, we also offer our complete Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at the Universities at Shady Grove in Rockville, Md.
