Displaced Federal Employees: Nursing Needs You!

The University of Maryland School of Nursing deeply values the commitment and significant contributions that federal employees have made and continue to make to our nation’s success.

We appreciate your dedication to public service, which aligns with our University’s mission: Serving the public good. This mindset is critical to compassionate, patient-centered nursing, and we invite you to consider starting or advancing a career in nursing or research. Nursing needs you and your skills!

Consider these nursing programs that could be a great fit for you, based on your experience:

We understand that recent changes in the federal government workforce have created an environment of uncertainty and significant challenges for employees and former employees of the federal government, and we know our state has been disproportionately affected.

We are offering the following to facilitate your next step that we hope will include nursing education:

  • waiving the application fee for applicants: email nrsadmissions@umaryland.edu for your code
  • providing a 50% tuition seat deposit for those who are admitted.

In addition, eligible applicants may receive a 10% tuition scholarship applied to base tuition.

  • The scholarship is applied per semester, representing 10% off the base tuition charged each term, and is not a one-time award.
  • The scholarship applies to tuition only and does not cover fees, insurance, or other associated costs.
  • The scholarship is renewable each semester, provided the student remains eligible and in good academic standing.

Applicants must provide documentation verifying current or recent federal civil service employment or affected status.

Nursing offers a stable, purpose-driven, flexible work opportunity. We’d love for you to join us.
