Donor-Funded Scholarship Application

Donor-funded scholarships have specific requirements that must be met and documented.

Applicants must be current or enrolled UMSON students and meet all donor-specific criteria.

FAFSA is required only for scholarships that require financial need.

If a scholarship requires experience, that experience must be clearly listed on your resume. If volunteer service is required, documentation must be uploaded with your application.

Applications that do not meet donor requirements or lack required documentation may not be reviewed.

If selected for a scholarship award:

• You will be required to write a thank-you letter to the donor
• You will be contacted by the Office of Development with instructions for submitting the letter

Each application must include a 300–500 word essay that addresses:

• Your experiences related to the donor’s criteria
• Your goals and how they align with the donor’s intent
• How the scholarship will support your success

Each essay must be specific to the scholarship you are applying for. Reused or generic essays may not be considered.

A resume is required for all donor scholarship applications.

Your resume should clearly include:

• Work or clinical experience
• Research involvement
• Volunteer or community service
• Leadership roles
• Awards or recognitions

If experience is required by the donor, it must be visible on your resume. Experience referenced only in the essay but not listed on the resume may not be considered.

• You must submit one application per scholarship.
• The application will display only the scholarships available for your student classification (undergraduate or graduate).
• Have your Student ID number ready before starting.
• Do not submit the application until your essay, resume, and any required documentation are ready to upload.

After submission, you will receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive a confirmation, contact nrsscholarships@umaryland.edu.

• After the application deadline, applications are reviewed by the UMSON Scholarship Selection Committee.
• Scholarships are awarded in accordance with donor-established criteria.
