Please print out, complete, and submit all forms prior to orientation.
All BSN students must submit a completed Student Health Report by the day they attend orientation at UMSON. Students must have received all items listed and at least the first shot for the Hepatitis B vaccination or a titer. Students will not be allowed to begin labs, modules, and clinicals if the complete report is not received prior to or on the student’s scheduled orientation day.
You are required to provide UMSON with a copy of your CPR card. Fax, email, or mail the copy using the contact information below. The School of Nursing offers a three-day orientation for entry-into-practice students (traditional BSN and CNL) that includes an academic overview and new student welcome, student academic success program, and campus orientation. The Academic Program Orientation and New Student Welcome is held at the School’s Baltimore location for all newly admitted entry-into-practice students. The academic success programs and campus orientations are held at the location where the student was admitted; either Baltimore or Shady Grove. Students may contact the Office of Admissions at 410-706-0501 (option two) if they are uncertain of their admittance location.

This orientation provides an opportunity for students to learn about the School and their particular program. Students will also learn about resources available on the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) campus. The Academic Program Orientation and New Student Welcome is scheduled for Monday, June 10, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Please email orientation@son.umaryland.edu to confirm your attendance.
Student Success Immersion Program
The academic success program for Baltimore students, Student Success Immersion Program (SSIP), is offered by the School of Nursing’s Student Success Center from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on the dates listed below. This program provides students with the tools and refresher skills to be successful in their first semester and beyond. Students will have an opportunity to interact with other students in their cohort in a small group setting, review concepts of anatomy and physiology, and discuss skills related to medical dosage calculations. Students receive an introduction to their first semester laboratory courses and an overview of expectations. The dates for the SSIP for BSN students are:
