Event Invitations

As an UMSON alumnus, you will receive invitations to special events and programs including the annual reunion, alumni regional events, lectures, and professional education events.

Health Sciences and Human Services Library (HS/HSL) Privileges

The University of Maryland (UM) HS/HSL is open to the public and anyone may use the library’s resources in-house. UMSON alumni are eligible to borrow books by becoming a Borrowing Member of the HS/HSL. To become a member, visit the circulation desk in the library, complete a membership form, bring your driver’s license or a Maryland identification card, and pay the annual membership fee. Your annual membership privileges include:

• Borrowing privileges from the book collections
• Photocopy services from library materials

• Literature searches in biomedical and social science databases, conducted by expert researchers (a small fee may apply)
• Book retrieval service

Professional Development Program Discounts

UMSON’s Office of Professional Development produces life-long learning programs for nurses and other professionals. The office is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. UMSON alumni receive discounted rates for many Professional Development/Continuing Education programs. School of Nursing Publications

The Office of Communications publishes The University of Maryland NURSING magazine biannually, as well as a monthly electronic newsletter, School of Nursing News. These publications are designed to inform, engage, inspire, and connect our faculty, staff, students, alumni, and other constituents of the School. UMSON alumni receive a complimentary copy of the magazine. If you are not already receiving the monthly e-newsletter, please submit your current email address to alumni@son.umaryland.edu.

State Employees Credit Union (SECU)

University Recreation & Fitness Center (URecFit)

The Southern Management Corporation Campus Center is located right next door to UMSON. This facility features state-of-the art exercise equipment, exercise classes, an indoor pool, and running track. As an UMSON alumnus you are eligible for a discounted membership at the primary rate level. Stay in shape and access recreation programs and activities year-round with a URecFit pass.
