Get a head start. Streamline the time it takes to earn your BSN degree by taking courses with one of our academic partners.
UMSON knows that in today's busy world, prospective students are trying hard to get ahead. We've partnered with multiple institutions in Maryland to offer different pathways to our School. Click the links below to find the one that's right for you.
College of Southern Maryland
UMSON has partnered with the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) to design an ADN program where nursing students may apply to both schools simultaneously and progress through the program, satisfying the requirements of both schools. In addition to transfer credits for completed coursework, UMSON will award students 30 credits toward their BSN degree at UMSON upon verification of an active registered nurse license. BSN coursework can be completed through Web hybrid courses taught onsite at CSM.
Through the agreement, nursing students will have simultaneous admission into Montgomery College’s ADN program and UMSON’s BSN program while satisfying the requirements of both schools. Students enrolled in the program will receive transfer credits for completed coursework, and will be granted special student status, allowing them to take UMSON courses while still working on their associate degree.
Mount St. Mary's University
Phase one takes place at Mount St. Mary’s University and consists of completion of prerequisite courses for the nursing program and all requirements of the dual degree program. Phase two consists of two years of full-time study in nursing-intensive courses at UMSON. All students who have met the entrance requirements of Mount St. Mary's, who will be or currently are full-time students are eligible for the BS/BSN dual-degree program. UMSON has guaranteed seats each year to Mount St. Mary's students pursuing this track.
University of Maryland, Baltimore County
Students accepted into the nursing plan of study at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) are guaranteed progression to UMSON so long as the student remains in good standing according to the criteria for both UMBC and UMSON. Students will complete 63-64 prerequisite credits at UMBC before progressing to UMSON for a final 61 credits to earn a BSN degree. Spaces in the UMSON BSN program will be reserved annually for UMBC students following this admission pathway.
University of Maryland, College Park
Students may complete prerequisite courses at the University of Maryland, College Park and then earn guaranteed admission to UMSON where they will complete two years of professional course work, which includes classroom, laboratory, and clinical education.
Students spend their first three years at Washington College, where they typically major in biology or psychology. Then they transfer to UMSON to finish their last two years, earning both a bachelor's degree from Washington College and a BSN from UMSON.
