COVID-19 Vaccination Side Effects vs. COVID-19 Symptoms

Please call the UMB COVID-19 Hotline at 800-701-9863 if you are experiencing symptoms post-vaccination and/or have been vaccinated and have had a subsequent high-risk exposure.

You may still access UMB or USG or, for students, attend clinical/practicum if you experience the following up to 48 hours after vaccine administration and feel well enough to attend in person:

  • fatigue
  • chills
  • headache
  • joint/muscle pain
  • low-grade fever [<100.0°F (37.8°C)].

You should not access UMB or USG or, for students, attend clinical/practicum if you experience:

  • a fever of 100.0°F (37.8°C) or higher
  • cough
  • shortness of breath
  • sore throat
  • runny nose
  • loss of taste or smell
  • other symptoms that are not typical of post-vaccination signs and symptoms.
