Aug. 17, 2020: URGENT: Required COVID-19 Testing

Dear Students,

This email confirms that you are required to submit a COVID-19 test, per the University System of Maryland policy, before coming on the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) or The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) campus for face-to-face learning experiences.

This applies if you are registered in one of the following courses, which include simulations, patient encounters, and/or labs occurring in a university building.  (If you are not registered in one of the below courses, please contact me at

Before coming to campus, you must submit a COVID-19 test dated between August 17 and August 31, 2020. See the UMB Website for specific types of testing accepted. The results, including date test was administered, must be uploaded into Castle Branch. Directions on how to upload the results will be sent by Tuesday.

No student will be allowed to attend UMB or USG simulation, lab, or standardized patient encounters without a test meeting the specific criteria and a negative test result having been uploaded into Castle Branch prior to the date of the learning experience.
