Required IRB Training

To ensure ethical and safe research conduct, all individuals engaged in human subject research at UM are REQUIRED to complete the following education/training programs:

Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Training

All individuals must complete a CITI training course prior to submitting a protocol. A CITI training refresher course is required biennially, before the anniversary date of your last CITI course. Failure to complete the refresher course may result in the loss of your research privileges.

Log on to: https://www.citiprogram.org/default.asp to complete your training.

Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Training

UMB policy requires that all individuals employed at UM take HIPAA 125 (formally HIPAA 101 and HIPAA 120) training. Additionally, all individuals engaging in research involving human subjects at UMB are required to complete HIPAA 201.

To log into the HIPAA training database, visit: http://somvweb.som.umaryland.edu/hipaa/quiz/index.asp. Your username is your 6-digit employee ID number and your password is your first name. For assistance logging into the HIPAA training, contact the School of Medicine help desk at 410-706-3998.
