Doctoral Program Fellowship

The United States Department of Education has selected the SON for funding under the Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) Program.

The criteria for fellowships are:

  1. Are accepted and/or enrolled in SON nursing doctoral program
  2. Have superior academic records and ability as evidenced by transcripts, letters of recommendation, and GRE scores
  3. Demonstrate financial need according to the needs-assessment methodology used in Title IV programs
  4. Are pursuing doctoral degrees
  5. Indicate in their goal statements and interviews that they are interested in teaching and research careers
  6. Are U.S. citizens, permanent residents, permanent residents of the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands, or provide evidence for the immigration and Naturalization Service that they are in the U.S. with the intention of becoming permanent residents 7. Meet the eligibility requirements of 34 CPR 75.60 regarding repayment of debts.

Seven fellowships will be awarded for the year 2007-2008.

The annual stipend is $30,000 per fellow and full tuition. We encourage all interested students to contact the PhD program for further details.
