BSN Admission Requirements
Admission to this program is highly competitive.
Minimum Application Requirements
- Official transcripts from all schools attended
- Applicable Advanced Placement (AP) or CLEP score reports
- Nurse Entrance Test (NET) score report (see below)
- Personal resumé
- Prerequisite Course List (PDF)
- A statement of goals and objectives
- Two recent academic letters of recommendation (PDF)
- English Proficiency Requirement
- Foreign Course Work Evaluation
- Payment of the $50 application fee
To be considered for admission to the BSN program you must also have:
- An overall GPA of 3.0
- A science GPA of 3.0 (chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Microbiology)
- Satisfactory completion of the Nurse Entrance Test (NET)
To accept our offer of admission to the BSN program you must:
- Complete the Enrollment Agreement and return it to : UMB School of Nursing, Office of Student and Academic Services, Suiite 102, 655 W. Lombard Street, Baltimore, MD 21201
- Submit a $400 non-refundable enrollment deposit with your completed Enrollment Agreement. The enrollment deposit is credited against your tuition charges. You are encouraged to pay your deposit online at http://www.simsweb.umaryland.edu.
- Complete a CPR course for the Health Care Provider/Professional Rescuer. You must submit a photocopy of your CPR certification card (front and back) to the Office of Student and Academic Services.
- Successfully complete the required pre-requisite courses and provide an official transcript of the course(s) and grade(s).
- Provide an official transcript for any coursework in which you are currently enrolled. Our offer of admission will be withdrawn if you fail to submit an official transcript by the deadline noted below. Please note that students admitted to the Traditional BSN Program must earn a minimum grade of “B” in any additional coursework completed prior to enrolling at the School of Nursing and must present a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.0 (“B”) otherwise admission will be withdrawn.

- Submit written notification of any change in your permanent address, mailing address, or telephone number to the School of Nursing Office of Records and Registrations, Room 108
Nursing Entrance Test Requirement
Effective Fall 2008 the University of Maryland School of Nursing began requiring successful completion of the Nursing Entrance Test (NET) as one of the requirements for admission to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at the School of Nursing.
Students should plan to sit for the NET no later than September 1 to be considered for Spring admission and no later than February 1 for Fall admission.
NET Registration
The test will be administered by Pearson VUE at any of its locations in Maryland and throughout the country. Registration for the NET through Pearson VUE is available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day at http://www.eriworld.com/NET. Students may also register by calling the ERI Customer Service Group at (800)299-EXAM. After registration, students will receive an e-mail containing their Pearson tester ID number and the 800 number to call for scheduling the exam with Pearson VUE testing services.

Application Deadline
Admission is highly competitive. To receive consideration for admission, financial aid and scholarships, students must submit applications, and all supporting documents, by the following dates.
- Fall Term — February 1
- Spring Term — September 1
