Office of Communications

The Office of Communications provides leadership, vision, and strategic direction to optimally advance the mission and vision of the School, to clarify and reinforce the branding of the School and its programs, to redefine and strengthen a powerful and competitive market position, and to identify and promote key products and services.

Functions & Responsibilities

External Communications

Creates and implements comprehensive and strategic plans for marketing and public relations. Includes:

Internal SON Communications

Creates and distributes print and electronic press releases, announcements, invitations, and flyers.

Public Relations

Identifies and proactively seeks out and/or creates key opportunities for regional and national media to highlight the School and its leaders, faculty, and students.  Works with faculty and staff to prepare for media interactions.

Publications

Oversees entire process for creating and distributing Nursing Magazine, monthly e-newsletters, official announcements, and other publications as needed.

Web Site

Oversees all content, photography, and graphics for the SON Web site.

Special Events

Oversees social, networking, and celebratory events that powerfully position the School, honor our faculty and staff, and create opportunities for camaraderie. 

Photography

Oversees hiring and coordinating photography for professional head shots, planned photo shoots for programs, as well as photography for conferences, events, and activities.

Campus Publications

Identifies and proactively seeks out and/or creates opportunities for additional coverage and inclusion in campus publications and the campus Web site.

Ambassador Training

Works with faculty, staff, and students to represent the school in a positive, professional, and consistent manner including at conferences and recruitment events.

Development

Works closely with the Development Office on campaigns and fundraising initiatives.
