The need for quality nursing professionals has never been greater. This certificate was designed to address that need, preparing teachers to develop the next generation of nurses.

Overview

The Certificate in Teaching in Nursing and Health Professions prepares nurses and health professionals for one of the most essential roles: teacher. You will aquire essential knowledge and teaching skills, allowing you to work effectively with students, patients, or consumers in academic, clinical, or professional settings. You will apply knowledge and skills in a practicum individually tailored to your goals and interests. 

This certificate is available for persons holding a graduate degree in nursing or a related health profession. These courses will also enrich programs of study for master's and doctoral students currently enrolled in nursing or health professions graduate programs at the University of Maryland, Baltimore.

Courses are offered in classroom and online learning environments. This certificate is approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission. 

The Teaching in Nursing and Health Professions Certificate is offered by the Institute for Educators in Nursing and Health Professions

This sequence of courses can be completed in a minimum of two semesters.

  • Official transcripts for all prior undergraduate and graduate study.
  • Two letters of recommendation. (Reference letters must come from a mentor, teacher, employer, fellow student, or professional colleague who can speak knowledgably about your potential to become a global health practitioner and/or researcher.)
