






UMSON is seeking a doctorally prepared faculty member to serve as director of the Nursing Informatics program.
The UMSON enrolls more than 1,800 students in its baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral programs and is ranked 7th among all schools of nursing in the nation. The Department of Organizational Systems and Adult Health (OSAH) is actively involved in the UMSON's undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs. Our Nursing Informatics program, the first established master’s degree in this field, is highly respected for its progressive curriculum. In addition to Nursing Informatics, OSAH offers a diverse array of master's programs including Adult Health/Geriatric NP, Oncology Nursing, Trauma/Critical Care (CNS, NP), Nurse Anesthesia, Health Services Leadership and Management, and Clinical Research Management. OSAH has amassed researchers in a Center of Excellence in Disorders of Neuro-regulatory Function, a Developing Center in Palliative Care Research, and a Proposed Center of Excellence in Cardiovascular Health and Aging. Faculty also participate in the UMSON's first Center of Excellence, the Center for Work and Health Research. The UMSON is part of the University of Maryland academic health center that also includes the schools of medicine, dentistry, social work, pharmacy, and law and is becoming as one of the fastest growing biomedical research centers in the nation. The unique composition of the campus enables health professionals to address health care, public policy, and social issues through multidisciplinary research, scholarship, and community action. Its location in the Baltimore-Washington-Annapolis triangle maximizes opportunities for collaboration with governmental agencies, health care institutions, and life science industries.
The Program Director provides leadership in the development and advancement of nursing and health care informatics. This is accomplished by providing direction to and facilitating curriculum development and evaluation, teaching, research and service. The Program Director is expected to mentor and work collaboratively with faculty; participate in the teaching mission; recruit, advise, and mentor students; conduct a program of externally funded research; and participate in School and interdisciplinary initiatives in informatics.
