Program Director: Heath Services Leadership and Management
The University of Maryland School of Nursing is seeking a doctorally prepared individual to serve as the director of the Health Services Leadership and Management Program. This large, multifaceted MS specialty program is currently ranked 6th in the nation by U.S. News & World Report
Qualifications
- Eligible for RN license in Maryland
- Masters degree in nursing and a doctorate in nursing or related field required
- Expertise in nursing service administration
- Prior teaching experience required; curriculum development and evaluation experience preferred.
- Record of scholarly achievement and research funding
- Evidence of interdisciplinary experience.
Responsibilities
- Provides leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of HSLM didactic and clinical courses.
- Actively engages in the recruitment and advisement of students.
- Teaches in the School’s HSLM program and in relevant courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Makes ongoing scholarly contributions to nursing science, including the advancement of a program of research in health services administration or a related area.
- Participates actively in departmental, SON and University committees and task forces.
About the School
The School of Nursing, one of the largest in the country, is ranked 7th among the top ten schools in the nation by U.S. News and World Report. It enrolls over 1400 students (Fall 2006: BSN–675, MS–646, PhD–63, DNP-17). The Organizational Systems and Adult Health department is actively involved in the SON’s undergraduate and graduate programs. It offers a diverse array of masters programs including Adult Health NP, Geriatric NP, Oncology Nursing, Trauma/Critical Care (CNS, NP), Nurse Anesthesia, Health Services Leadership and Management, Nursing Informatics, and Clinical Research Management programs. The department has also amassed researchers in a Developing Center of Excellence in Disorders of Neuro-regulatory Function and in a Developing Center for End of Life Care. In addition to the SON, the University of Maryland, Baltimore campus encompasses five other professional schools – Dentistry, Law, Medicine, Pharmacy and Social Work and is one of the fastest growing health sciences research centers in the United States. The unique composition of the campus enables health professionals to address health care, public policy and social issues through multidisciplinary research, scholarship and community action. Its location in the Baltimore-Washington-Annapolis triangle maximizes opportunities for collaboration with government agencies, health care institutions and life sciences industries.
