






The University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) Department of Organizational Systems and Adult Health is recruiting faculty members to teach in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. UMSON enrolls more than 1,700 students in its baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral programs and is one of the top ranked schools of nursing in the nation. In addition to UMSON, the University of Maryland in Baltimore includes five other professional schools - Medicine, Dentistry, Social Work, Pharmacy, and Law - and is one of the fastest growing biomedical research centers in the nation. The unique composition of the campus enables health professionals to address clinical care, public policy, and social issues through multidisciplinary research, scholarship, and community action. Its location in the Baltimore-Annapolis-Washington, D.C. triangle optimizes opportunities for collaboration with governmental agencies, health care institutions, and life science industries.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants must hold a doctorate and a master’s degree in nursing, have a record of scholarly achievement, e.g., publications, research, presentations at professional meetings, in their area of specialization, and be eligible to practice nursing in the state of Maryland. Candidates with expertise in health systems leadership and management or experience as an acute care nurse practitioner are preferred.
Primary Responsibilities
The successful candidate will contribute to DNP program curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation; teach in the DNP program and, potentially, in other graduate or undergraduate areas; participate in the recruitment, advisement, and mentoring of students; make ongoing scholarly contributions to nursing science, including the incorporation of evidence-based practice into teaching and clinical activities and the publication of data-based manuscripts; engage in a faculty practice; and participate in faculty governance.
