Graduate Student Financial Aid
In addition to funding sources outlined on the main Financial Aid page, other School of Nursing graduate funding sources are available.
Funding Sources
Graduate Assistantships are awarded to new and currently enrolled full-time graduate students on a competitive basis. Most full-time awards include a 10-12 month stipend, up to 10 credits in tuition for each semester, as well as student health insurance. A 20-hour per week work commitment is required. Applications are available in the School of Nursing's Office of Admissions and Student Affairs.
Advanced Education Nursing Traineeships assist in addressing the shortage of master's and doctorally prepared nurses. This grant program provides tuition support for full-time students. The School of Nursing applies to the Bureau of Health Professions each year for funds for this program. If funds are available, applications and instructions are available in the Office of Admissions and Student Affairs. Awards average $2,000 per semester.
The John A. Hartford Foundation and the School of Nursing are funding a limited number of full-tuition scholarships for students admitted to the MS program in one of the three following specialty areas: Gerontological Nurse Practitioner, Gerontological Nurse Practitioner combined with Nursing Administration/Managed Care and Gerontological Nurse Practitioner combined with Advanced Practice Oncology Nursing. These scholarships are available to newly-admitted students. There is no separate application, and the School of Nursing faculty make the scholarship selections.
