Universities at Shady Grove

The University of Maryland School of Nursing offers its Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, RN-to-BSN option, and Doctor of Nursing Practice Family Nurse Practitioner specialty at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) in Rockville, Maryland.

USG is a collaboration of nine public degree-granting institutions that brings some of the top programs from across the state to one convenient location in Montgomery County.

Our programs at USG:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

This is a full-time, upper-division professional program. You'll need to complete two years (59 credits) of general studies and prerequisites before applying to enter the School of Nursing as a junior.

RN-to-BSN

Registered nurses with an associate degree or diploma in nursing can take courses toward and/or complete your BSN at USG. To graduate, you must complete a minimum of 59 undergraduate credits in the social and behavioral sciences, the natural and physical sciences, and the arts and humanities. We also award credit to students with a valid registered nursing license.

Doctor of Nursing Practice Family Nurse Practitioner Specialty

Nurses with a BSN (or MS) degree can earn your Doctor of Nursing Practice degree with a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) specialty at USG. ‌This specialty prepares advanced practice nurses to be primary health care providers for individuals of all ages and their families.
